About Mind Kind Counselling and Therapy
My name is Dr. Amy Harrison and as the Clinical Psychologist behind Mind Kind, I am passionate about trying to support people in becoming the best version of themselves by working through psychological difficulties and challenges.
If you decide to work with me, I can promise that I will strive to support you in a way best suited for your needs. I don’t do ‘one size fits all’ – we are too amazingly diverse for that – instead I will strive to adapt my approach to you, in order for you to get the most out of therapy.

About Me
Hello! I’m Amy – the person behind Mind Kind Counselling and Therapy. In order for you to get more of a sense of who I am and what I am about, here is some information for you.
Psychology has always been an area I have been passionate about and I have a real drive to support people with whatever causes them psychological pain. For me there is no ‘small issue’ – if it causes an individual difficulty and pain and they want to makes changes to work through it, then that is hugely admirable in my book. There is no judgement. Change is hard, but wanting to develop and be the best version of yourself is such a courageous thing to do.
As a psychologist I work hard to see people on a level playing field - what I mean by that is, I may be coming to therapy sessions with expertise, but you are too, in yourself and your life – so my job is to bring those two things together – so we work as a team to do that – and I feel very lucky and privileged to be able to support people in this way.
As well as having a professional interest in psychology, I have also, at times, struggled with areas of my life, with motherhood, depression and anxiety. Having had therapy myself, I know the challenge of it, the struggle, but ultimately, I have seen the rewards too, and as such I have an insight into what individuals are facing when they come to therapy.
I am a thoughtful, caring, compassionate person, who will work incredibly hard to make sure that any individual who comes to me gets the best care they can. I am clear, honest and transparent – so individuals will always know where they stand with me as their therapist. I provide a safe secure space for people, so they can let their guard down and really explore what is causing them pain. I understand how hugely challenging that can be and I never underestimate it. As a therapist I see my job as holding the hope for people in the times when they can’t hold it for themselves.
I am married with two sons – so a very busy household. I am a family girl at heart. I love reading (I have shelves full of books at home!), being outside, as well as baking. I love being by the seaside and a long walk on a blustery British beach looking for fossils is one of my favourite things to do.
